P3 Slab Repairs – SAN ANTONIO

The existing parking structure consists of a 2-phase cast-in-place underground concrete structure separated by an expansion joint at all levels. In the original phase of construction at the P3 level (lowest level), the concrete that spans 7 parking bay areas along the river elevation had subsided since its original construction. The subsidence ranged from ¾” to 2” along the 175 LF parking stall run. The existing conditions were reviewed and a slab topping repair design was established by a structural engineer. The design called for preparation of the existing concrete surface through crack chasing and removal of topping to a CSP of 6 (Concrete Surface Profile); installation of proper anchorage / support at 2” deep areas; soaking of the concrete surface to a SSD (Surface Saturate Dry) condition for installation of bonding agent and polymer modified mortar patching material (all bagged material)
