A buried expansion joint at the top of the underground parking garage had failed and was allowing excessive water infiltration to the interior of the structure. This water infiltration caused concrete spalling at the interior beams / columns along the expansion joint. The concrete spalling damage was deemed significant and called for immediate repairs following a repair design by a structural engineer. The design called for excavation of the plaza area near the main entrance as well as a main drive to expose the failed expansion joint / replacement of the expansion joint / reinstallation of the overburden and drive / concrete spall repairs at the garage interior.
